The Telegramic Project

Telegramic is both a Telegram directory and search engine for bots, channels, groups, stickers, news, and more, and a community for Telegram users and developers.

I've been using Telegram and enjoying it almost since the year it was first released. With Telegramic, I built a solution that makes Telegram more useful, fun, practical, and creative by helping users find the kind of Telegram content they're looking for.

How does it work?

You can add any public content on Telegram to Telegramic, or find the content that has been added in Telegramic's directories.

Supported content types:

  • bots
  • channels
  • groups
  • sticker packs
  • user accounts*

*A user account can only be added to the "Users" directory by the account owner. They need to choose their interests and complete a few steps.

Adding a new bot, channel, group, sticker pack, etc.

You can add any of these to Telegramic in a few seconds. All you need to do is sign in to Telegramic and choose the content type from the + menu at the top right. Telegramic will walk you through the rest.

You can do this as the owner of the content, or as any Telegram user. This is one of the key things that sets Telegramic apart from similar services, because other directories could only process submissions from the content owner.

If something you own was added by someone else, you can claim ownership later. You then get access to the following.

What content owners get:

  • You can edit your content's page on Telegramic whenever you want
  • You can hide your ownership
  • You can delete the content at any time
  • You can use advanced management tools for free: topics and frequently asked questions are just a few of them
  • You can get notified when a new rating/review or topic is created
  • You can showcase the content you own on your profile
  • If users who review your content joined because of you, you can earn reputation points, and who knows, maybe become a ⭐️ Champion
  • Using our API, you can fetch reviews, topics, and frequently asked questions in real time and use them in your programs

Is Telegramic a "first"?

Yes and no. Of course, there are already websites that work only as directories. But they have some shortcomings.

What similar services lack:

  • finding quality content is very hard because there's too much unwanted content
  • anyone can use bots to post fake reviews and easily climb the rankings
  • there's no adult content filter, or it isn't good enough, so you can't get a browsing experience that's suitable for everyone
  • since there are no tools like the ones Telegramic offers, the system gives you no purpose other than hoping to climb the rankings

All of this led to an unfair and chaotic structure. Also, between us, when I tried adding content that didn't actually exist to the most popular of these sites, I saw that it was accepted into the system after the usual review process. At the moment, that service is returning a 503 error. Edit: The service has shut down completely. Even @Gamee, one of the best-known official bots, was using it.

What makes Telegramic different

Telegramic offers features that set it apart from similar services in many ways.

API for developers

An API (application programming interface) is an interface that produces output developers can use in their programs. At Telegramic, if you own at least one piece of content, we give you a free API key. In the future, I'll expand this and make all public information available through the API.

Advanced tools for content owners

We offer two main tools: Topics and Frequently Asked Questions. Topics works like a forum. The closest example is the "Issues" section of services like GitHub and GitLab. Here you can exchange ideas with your audience, let them report problems, give them a place to ask questions, and let everyone else join those discussions. With the latest update, you now have the authority to close or delete any topic you want.

This will also give you an idea of which questions to add and answer in the "Frequently Asked Questions" section, and you'll be able to add a new FAQ entry whenever you want.

You and your audience can reach all of this through the interface the Telegramic Bot provides. For example, you can see a sample interface for my Reget Bot by clicking here.

Inappropriate content restrictions:

Telegramic comes with a disciplined system for inappropriate content, and adult content stays hidden by default. You can sign in and choose to show it, or show it blurred. Edit: We've stopped accepting content that includes posts about pornography, violence, or drug use.

Language:

Whatever your language, you can easily find the content you're looking for, because there's an advanced language filter.

A unique rating system

Ratings are a great way to see how much people like a piece of content or a product. But the usual approach is to "take the average of the ratings", and that's wrong. Imagine content with only 2 ratings, both 5 stars. Its average will be 5. Now imagine content that 1000 people rated, with an average of 4.9. It will rank below the content only 2 people rated. I use an algorithm that solves this problem. Read this for details.

You also don't need people to sign up or visit the website to get reviews from them. If you have a bot, channel, group, or sticker pack, you can put the review link from your content's Telegramic profile anywhere, and get reviews from users through the Telegramic Bot without making them leave Telegram. For a better user experience, I recommend adding this link to a button.

⭐️ On a device with Telegram installed, you can click here to leave a test review for Reget Bot (try Reget Bot first, of course 😌).

Getting new content as notifications:

We have four channels. We share content that was recently added to the system, that we believe people will find useful, and that we consider "quality". For the widest compatibility, only English content is shared for now.

You can also find everything these channels share using the filters on the Telegramic website. The channels are only meant to notify you on Telegram.

Reviewing submitted content:

We review submitted content carefully. It isn't a system where anyone can add whatever they want. This is a choice that may lead to debate, but since it's obvious the debate would most likely be started by people submitting content we can't accept, I didn't give it much weight. Still, we have to be careful with exceptions and be able to admit our mistakes. That's why we have a public "Topics" page. Anyone can start any discussion there. You can have a page like this too when you add your own content.

You can visit Telegramic and explore it yourself.

In short, Telegramic is an application that brings many of the things Telegram users need together in one package.
