eqMini Privacy Policy

This policy covers the eqMini macOS app, maintained by Can Elma. The app works without an account.

Audio stays on your Mac

eqMini requires macOS System Audio Recording permission to apply an equalizer to audio from other apps. It explains this before the first enable. The permission is used for live sound processing, including when you choose selected apps only.

Audio is processed in memory. eqMini does not save audio recordings, capture screen images, upload audio, or send it to an AI service. Disabling the equalizer or quitting releases the audio route. You can revoke permission in System Settings → Privacy & Security; the equalizer cannot process other apps' sound without it.

Settings and app information

eqMini reads app names, bundle identifiers, and audio process IDs to show the app picker and route selected audio. It stores your EQ settings, selected app identifiers/names, and startup choices in local macOS preferences. It does not send this information to the developer.

Launch at login is optional and managed by macOS. It registers the app itself as a login item, without a separate privileged helper. Closing a window leaves eqMini running in the menu bar. Choose Quit to stop the app.

No automatic data collection

The app contains no analytics, advertising SDK, automatic crash-report uploader, update checker, or network service. It makes no network requests. This is a description of the current app, not a claim that macOS enforces a network restriction on the process. Your operating system's diagnostics and other system services follow Apple's settings and policies.

If you run diagnostic commands yourself, they can print app/process metadata and signal statistics to your terminal. They do not save captured audio. Review diagnostic output before sending it to anyone.

Links, downloads, and donations

Website, policy, source, and support links open your browser. GitHub handles release downloads and GitHub Sponsors payments; Buy Me a Coffee is another optional donation service. Those services receive the information you provide to them under their own policies. eqMini does not handle payment details, embed a payment form, or receive audio through a donation.

These policy pages are hosted on elma.dev, which loads Google Fonts. Visiting the website involves requests to its hosting and font providers, which receive network information such as your IP address. Website traffic is separate from the app's local audio processing.

Contact and changes

If you send a support message, I receive the information you choose to include and use it to respond and investigate. Avoid including private audio or unrelated personal information. Messages may be kept while needed for the request and related follow-up. Contact [email protected] for privacy questions or deletion requests about messages you have sent.

This policy will be updated if the app's data handling changes. The date above identifies the current version.
